Leslene della-Madre is a mother, priestess, a “shemama” — shamanic spiritual midwife, author, poet, TV host, and holder of sacred female shamanic wisdom, teaching in the U.S. and internationally. She has taught the womanist shamanic healing arts for over 30 years and has traveled the shamanic path for over 40 years. She is a pipe carrier in the metis traditon of Grandmother Mahad’yuni, and is an initiated daughter in the Nepalese lineage of Ajima. Her groundbreaking book, Midwifing Death: Returning to the Arms of the Ancient Mother has inspired many people to revision death and dying from a Sacred Feminine approach. She will be a featured poet and inspirational writer for SIBELLA: Poetry Created To Set the Soul Aflame, in 2012.
Leslene is the co-founding mother of the highly successful WomanSpirit Retreat founded over 20 years ago for the then Church of Religious Science now known as The Center for Spiritual Living in Santa Rosa CA. She has appeared on the Elder’s Council at Earthdance and is the mother of the founding sister duo of The Goddess Alchemy Project. She is also founder of Winged Women Return, a center for womanist centered shamanic healing in Sebastopol Ca.
Grandmother Agnes Baker-Pilgrim, chairwoman of The Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, says about her, “Leslene has an important message and many people need to hear it.”
